DIAMOND CLARITY GUIDE

VS vs VVS: understand the grade before comparing the price.

VS means Very Slightly Included; VVS means Very Very Slightly Included. Both describe clarity under standardized magnification, not a promise that one diamond will look dramatically different from another at normal viewing distance. The useful decision is how clarity, stone size, shape and price fit your priorities together.

What the clarity grade measures

Diamond clarity considers internal inclusions and surface blemishes. Professional grading evaluates their size, number, position, nature and visibility under 10x magnification.

VVS inclusions are minute and difficult for a skilled grader to see at 10x. VS inclusions are minor and range from difficult to somewhat easier to locate at 10x, depending on the subgrade and stone.

02

Why the visible difference can be subtle

Clarity grading happens under magnification. Many characteristics that separate VS from VVS are not obvious in ordinary wear. Shape, stone size and inclusion location can influence whether a difference is noticeable.

Do not interpret the letters alone as a complete quality ranking. Cut, color, carat, proportions and the setting also shape the appearance of the finished piece.

03

When VS can be the practical choice

VS may be appropriate when you want to prioritize carat, metal or a more detailed setting within a target budget. The relevant question is whether the specific stone and finished piece meet the visual standard you expect.

On Belaroq product pages, selecting VS updates the corresponding product price. The selected grade is stored with the cart and order for production review.

04

When VVS may fit your priorities

VVS may suit buyers who place a high priority on a more stringent clarity category, especially for a prominent center stone or as part of the story behind the piece.

Compare the actual price difference and the complete specification. Certification and final stone details should be confirmed before production rather than inferred from a generic sample image.

The practical takeaway

Choose VS when balanced value across the whole design matters most; choose VVS when the higher clarity category itself is an important part of your specification.
